Dear Friend,
Dawn Noble
June is a time for honoring the fathers in our life, and for me, my godfather comes immediately to mind.  It's only been a few months since he passed away, but in these past months I've had to time to reflect on who he was and what he meant to me.

I learned the most important lessons of my life while in conversation with my godfather. He was my first life coach, and still one of the most influential people in my life.  He taught me to challenge authority while still respecting the person in authority.  He taught me to believe in myself, even when I was scared.  He taught me to have fun with everything I do, otherwise what's the point.

To say he was conventional or mainstream is almost funny. He, at all times, made his own decisions with a clarity that seemed like an inner compass and inner knowing. He so very easily said stuff out loud that seemed to be rolling around in my head but hadn't come out yet.

Although I miss him terribly, I know that what he taught me is still with me.  His lessons inform my life, but so does his way of drawing out, from me, what was already inside me.  Along the path, we have many mentors, teachers, coaches, and friends, and my godfather was all of those to me.  I hope, this month, you have the opportunity to remember someone who guided you in a powerful way.

Your friend on the path,

Dawn Noble

This issue's spotlight:  LIFE COACHING
A WINNING LIFE

June is a time of new beginnings--the season of weddings, graduations, and summer fun.

This is the perfect time to consider where we are in our lives.  Are we happy?  Are we in need of change? Are we facing the challenge of a new adventure?  (Even exciting change can be stressful.) Are we playing the game of life with ease, skill, and passion?

Thankfully, talented coaches are ready to come to the sidelines of your life, assess your moves, and offer pointers that can help you reach your goals and live life to the fullest. If you feel like you're sitting on the bench more than being in the game, consider bringing in a coach!

Best wishes to all fathers, grads, newlyweds, and all of you who are springing ahead with new plans and adventures and playing the game of life with passion!

SPOTLIGHT ON LIFE COACHING

What do life coaches do?

A life coach can help you find your flow, assess your goals in light of your deepest desires, set new goals and benchmarks, break habits that damage and develop ones that nourish you, and find ways to create more time for yourself and your loved ones.

A coach will meet with you on a regular basis, and many provide phone and/or e-mail support in between. Coaching can also be successful when done entirely over the phone or Internet, depending upon the coach and the individual's comfort level with cyber-relating. For some, a non-local coach is the best possible person, even if not face-to-face; others find the in-person contact important. Follow your inner wisdom to find a life coach--it's a good warm-up exercise for the work you'll be doing together!

Who can benefit from life coaching?

A life coach can help if you are

·  At a crossroads
·  Going through a life change
·  Feeling stuck
·  Seeking a more abundant life
·  Struggling to integrate healthful habits
·  Looking to strengthen relationships
·  Creatively blocked
·  Suffering from chronic stress
·  Not taking good care of yourself
·  Trying to create a more balanced life

How can I find the right coach for me?

Your life coach may be certified in empowerment coaching or career coaching, or may have another area of expertise like writing, entrepreneurship, or adult ADHD.  Each coach has a unique background and offers an interesting perspective for teaching and helping others.  Your coach's background might be in healing, Feng Shui, yoga, meditation, psychology, nutrition, or any number of areas. Someone's background will suggest likely areas of emphasis if working with that particular person.

The most important thing is that you find someone whose input you will respect, who can listen carefully, think creatively, and motivate in a way that resonates with you.
